Invoice Format

A standard invoice format has six parts: a header with the invoice number and dates, your details, the client's details, line items, tax and total, and payment terms. Put them in that order and any client can read it.

Fill in the format below, and the preview updates as you type. Download it as a PDF when you're done.

Tip: in the print dialog choose “Save as PDF”.

Invoicing tips for small businesses

  1. Put the word INVOICE, a unique number and the issue date at the top. Add the due date next to them.
  2. Give each line a short description, a quantity and a price. Show tax and the total below the lines.
  3. Finish with payment terms and how to pay. Tax rules and required fields differ by country, so check yours.

Can I change the invoice format?
Yes. Every line, price, date and note is editable, and you can add or remove lines.
Is the invoice format free to download?
Yes. Download it as a PDF with no account and no watermark.
