Canadian sales tax has a twist. GST is federal, but several provinces roll it into HST, so the rate you charge depends on where your client is. This template starts at 5% GST. Change it to your province's combined HST rate (e.g. 13% in Ontario) when you need to.

- The GST/HST rate and amount shown separately from the subtotal.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need a GST/HST number to invoice in Canada?
- You have to register once your revenue passes the small-supplier threshold. After that, your GST/HST number goes on your invoices and you charge the rate that applies in the client's province.
- What GST/HST rate should I charge?
- It depends on the province of supply. Some provinces are 5% GST, others use a combined HST (e.g. 13–15%). Look up the one that applies and put it in the tax field.
